Barcelona is a Spanish city that brings rich experiences. It lets you experience the perfect combination of nature, art, life, architecture, history, and culture.
Before going to Barcelona
Before arriving in Barcelona, I was full of yearning and expectations because many movies and literary works left me with many deep impressions, but these impressions were somewhat scattered.
In fact, I did not have a complete impression of Barcelona, and I felt that I could not accurately describe my feelings about this city.
So before Barcelona, I thought I would be moved by the sea, beach, blue sky, and white clouds of Barcelona, and I thought I would be captivated by nature.
Impression of Barcelona
After arriving in Barcelona, I realized that this is a city of art, a city deeply influenced by Gaudi’s art. It is also a city that integrates nature and art, architecture and life, modernity and romance.
Barcelona embodies the passion and vitality, relaxation and happiness, personality and tolerance, complexity and diversity of the Spain.
This is a multifaceted city, a city that is endless and boundless in its magnificence, and a city that gives people limitless space for imagination.
Transportation
Barcelona’s transportation system is well developed. In addition to the subway that extends in all directions, there are buses and trams to various places, bicycles such as Bicing for renting, and various ships in the port and at sea. In addition, Barcelona’s airport is also one of the most important and busy airports in Europe.
Food
In addition to various local Spanish foods, Barcelona also offers specialties from all over the world. Even Barcelona’s fruit market is as unique as a work of art. In La Boqueria, various fruits and vegetables are sold like works of art.
If you want to taste the local specialties of Barcelona, you can try a dish like Fideuà, which is a seafood dish. Fideuà is similar to paella, with the main difference being that Fideuà uses noodles instead of rice.
History
Barcelona dates back to before 5000 BC as tombs and dwellings have been found from that time. Barcelona was a Roman city and later it became the capital of Catalonia. But Barcelona was under the control of France twice in its history. Now, Barcelona is the second the largest city after Madrid in Spain.
Travel suggestions
Not everyone wants to go to a distant countryside for a vacation. Many people hope to spend a good time in an environment with various convenient services in the city.
Barcelona is an ideal place to relax, enjoy nature and art, without leaving the big city environment. If you only have a few days to spend in Barcelona and prefer to see many things, the suggestions below might be helpful.
Take a tourist bus
Because there are many attractions in Barcelona and they are scattered in various parts of the city, I chose to take a tourist bus to see the different attractions throughout the city first, and to appreciate the scenery of Barcelona.
However, this tour took four hours, as each line is two hours long, and there are two lines in total. This tour felt like a feast for the eyes, as Gaudi’s architecture alone is impressive.
At that time, I also took the tourist bus for another reason, which was to reduce my use of the subway.
When I was in Madrid, two thieves almost stole my important items in a long subway passage. So I hope to spend more time relaxed, and didn’t want to spend time alertly looking around.
On the tourist bus, I listened to the explanations through the headphones, admired the beautiful scenery, the blue sky, white clouds, and watched people passing through this beautiful city. I felt very relaxed and happy.
Sleep early and get up early
Learning from my experiences and lessons in Granada, I booked a better hotel this time because rest is important in the hot summer weather.
To ensure adequate sleep, I went to bed as early as possible every night, so that I could get up early the next morning and reduced the discomfort caused by the heat.
Focus on the parts you like
It is almost impossible to visit all of Barcelona in one trip. So, in planning your itinerary, you can first get a general understanding, and then focus on visiting the attractions you are most interested in, arranging the rest of the time flexibly.
